We ride once a month from March through November provided the temperature is a comfortable 55 degrees or above. The group ride is in the Chattanooga and surrounding areas. The last Friday of the month there is a Critical Mass Ride in Atlanta, GA. This ride consist of hundreds of people who enjoy riding. Here you will find people riding battery operated bikes, scooters, hoverboards, etc. and nonpowered bikes, scooters, hoverboards, skates, etc. riding through the city for 10 to 15 miles. This would be a great ride for our group too.
The rides can be from 10 to 20 miles.
Helmets are mandatory on all rides and must be ANSI or Snell-approved.
Bicycle: Ensure it’s in good mechanical condition. Know basic maintenance, including how to change a flat.
Clothing: Suitable for weather conditions. Cycling shorts, tights, long sleeve jerseys, and gloves recommended.
Fluids: Hydrate before and during the ride. Bring water or a sports drink.
Food: Carry energy foods or dried fruit on longer rides. Note: many rides don’t include meal stops.
Tools: Carry at least two tire levers, a spare tube, a patch kit, and a pump or CO2 cartridges.
Lights: Required for rides during dark hours.
Arrive Early: Ride start times are strict departure times.
When we ride you should maintain a steady line, signal turns and stops, communicate hazards. Obey all traffic signs and signals. Ride in the direction of traffic. No Littering: Be environmentally responsible. Carry out all trash. Ride Predictably: Avoid sudden stops and movements. Maintain a consistent pace. When it comes to personal space - keep a safe distance from other cyclists. Follow the instructions and decisions of ride leaders.
Always carry emergency contact and medical information.
Start with an easier, shorter ride. Arrive early. When you arrive make a point to meet the leader of the ride. Introduce yourself to the ride leader at the start. Ride leaders are here to answer questions and guide you in the group ride. And remember to eat at approximately 30 minutes before the ride.
Riders acknowledge and accept the risks involved in the group ride, taking full responsibility for any mishaps or injuries. It is crucial to recognize and respect personal limits, maintain a safe distance from fellow riders, and carry emergency contact details, physician's phone numbers, and a list of medications at all times.
